At Gimnasio del Norte is common to see children with cameras or in front of a microphone interviewing teachers and broadcasting from the school radio station or maybe writing for the newspaper.
Un área para la Comunicación
Since 2003, the school established the Communication Department (SCD), whose main objective is to meet the communication needs of the organization, making use of educational, technical and technology devices for the development of communication; pieces in print, broadcast and digital media resources. Its purpose is to provide to the members of the community with an experience of communication for everyone, from their perspective, role or activity.
The SCD coordinates the practice of media such as the Radio School (GN 94.5), digital newspaper Hello-Online, the video channel on the web and film productions of Diploma students.
Communication, a subject for everyone
Students Gimnasio del Norte are engaged in communicative production through the field of Communication and Technology, integrated into IB programs like PEP (Primary grade 5th ) and MYP in all its grades (6th to 9th). With this course, students approach the creation of print content (newspapers, posters, advertising images, etc..), audio pieces (podcasts, radio programs live and pre-recorded) and audiovisual (newsletters, magazines, reports, and short films)

Additionally, in recent years Baccalaureate (Diploma program, 10 º and 11 º) students can deepen their artistic and communicative skills in the IB film subject, an academic space that not only deepens the theory and history of cinema art, but also in activities of critical analysis and creative production.
The short films made by students of Film of IB film have won major awards in national and international festivals.
Leaders on school radio
Gimnasio del Norte houses the International Association of Educational Radio (AIR) in its Chapter Colombia. It organizes the meeting of Communication School, an annual event that brings together students and teachers from schools of Colombia and worldwide.
Within this event a there is ONLINE BROADASTING FOR 24 HOURS performed LIVE, which gathers students and teachers every year, they work with their radios in countries such as Chile, Argentina, Peru and Mexico, among others. The event has been repeatedly recognized nationally and internationally for its educational and collaborative work.
Students, faculty or any member of the school community can participate in the various school communications projects as follows:
• Send your articles or contributions to the School Newspaper.
• Participate in the production of programs for school radio.
• Ask the group of video production for the realization of newsletters, magazines and various audiovisual projects.
• Provide school communication projects for educational and training purposes.
• Students in grades 5th through 11th will participate continuously in production processes in school settings, especially as a practice and extension of the classes of Communication and Film.
• Students from other courses may participate in different projects related to their units of inquiry.
